Polishing
Polishing and waxing a GRP boat is an essential part of maintaining a vessel. When done regularly it protects the gelcoat from oxidisation. The gelcoat is an essential part of a GRP boat as the glass and resin underneath has far lower tolerance levels for UV and water, so the gelcoat is applied on top to protect the structural lower layers of the construction. When left too long, the gelcoat gets so chalky that it needs cutting back prior to polishing and waxing. We will be able to advise on the correct treatment needed when coming to the vessel to estimate.
